One more chance to visit the home show

This is your last chance to check out the Austin Home and Vacation in Packer Arena from 11 to 4 p.m. today.

You can register for over $10,000 dollars worth of prizes.

Bring the kids. They will love fishing in the trout tank and visiting the girl and boy scouts’ activity room.

The Austin Police Department will also be there from 11 to 3 p.m. doing kids IDs.

Test your race skills in the Race Car Simulator and a chance to win tickets to Deer Creek Speedway.

We have sent letters out to our managers from last year for the men’s and co-ed softball as well as co-rec kickball team managers.The registration deadline is Monday, April 27. You will need to have your entry fee, roster and player fees paid for by 5 p.m. on that day. Softball leagues will have a mandatory league meeting on Wednesday, April 29. Co-ed is at 5:30 p.m. and men’s at 6 p.m. in the Park and Recreation office. If you were not a manager last year and would like to form your own team, call our office for the information or like us on Facebook as we will have that information there as well.

Sand volleyball is scheduled to start on Monday, May 18. Managers will receive information in the mail and we will also put information on Facebook if anyone is interested in forming a team. Players must be 16 years old by June 1, 2015, and will need a parent’s signature for the roster. The team entry fee is $20 plus an $8 player fee. Roster is limited to 12 players by Thursday, May 7.

The next public skates at Riverside Arena will be held 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. today; 6:45 to 8 p.m. Tuesday; 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28 Sunday March 29; 6:45 to 8 p.m.

The cost to skate is $4, if you need skates; we have rentals for $1.

If you are interested in renting an hour of ice we will have ice into April so call our office for available hours. We have had birthday parties or get together with friends and family for some ice skating.

The Austin Bruins’ next home game will be Friday against Brookings. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. Stay tuned for playoff games.

I know it is early but please mark your calendar for the ninth annual Community Pride Day.

We will meet on Saturday, April 25, at the Municipal Swimming Pool Parking lot at 9 a.m. and finished by noon. You will pick up your bags and head to one of our public green spaces or parks to pick up the garbage left behind from winter.

If there is a spot you or your group would like to pick up call our office and we will start logging those requests.
