Jo spent the first five years of her life in Berlin, North Dakota, until the family moved to Jamestown, North Dakota, when she was 5-years-old. She attended all her years of schooling there, including Jamestown College where she received a degree in 1942 in English, with minors in music and social studies.

She then moved to Los Angeles where she worked at Pacific Tel and Tel for a year. She then returned to North Dakota because she missed winter.

Upon her return, she went back to college and earned her teaching degree. She taught in Kensal and Napoleon, North Dakota, and then moved to Minnesota, teaching in Warren, Hancock, and Alexandria before coming to Austin in 1958.

Jo loved to travel, read and visit with friends. She has no immediate relatives but is survived by Jeanne Winslow’s family, the Winslows and Johnsons, and dear friends.

Her graveside service will be held at a later date in Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown where her mother, father, and younger brother, Gerald, who died in an auto accident at the age of 19, are buried.

Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
