Deputies seeking driver who destroyed power line pole

Mower County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a car crash where someone hit a power line pole and was picked up by another driver.

Sheriff Terese Amazi said someone struck a driveway and hit a power line pole at about 1:44 a.m. Thursday near the 63400 block of 280th Street near Hayfield. Witnesses report a Jeep-type vehicle drove up to the scene and picked up the driver.

The power line was smashed and laying on the ground, according to Amazi. Freeborn-Mower Cooperative staff were on the scene as well.

Deputies later found an open beer can and a pellet gun laying in the front seat of the car. Anyone with information is encouraged to call law enforcement at 437-9400.
