PINE RIVER — Witnesses say the small plane that crashed in north-central Minnesota, killing two people, appeared to be going “low and slow” before it went down.

Cass County sheriff’s officials have identified the two killed Friday when the fixed wing single-engine plane crashed near the Pine River Regional Airport. Forty-three-year-old John Witt was piloting the plane. Thirty-two-year-old Stacy Sundquist was a passenger. Both were from Pine River.

Sheriff Tom Burch tells the Brainerd Dispatch fuel leaked from the plane after impact, but did not ignite.
