Henry Floyd Orth, 85, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 1, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.
He was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Austin, Minnesota, to Floyd and Gladys (Griep) Orth. Following his 1949 graduation from Austin High School, Henry served with the Army National Guard during the Korean War, where he attained the rank of sergeant. Henry worked for Golden Dairy in the milk department, later worked as a custodian for Westminster Presbyterian Church, and was a school bus driver, where he loved watching the children on his route grow up. He retired in 2002. On July 5, 1953, Henry was united in marriage to Robin Ferguson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple raised three daughters. Henry enjoyed woodworking, cooking, gardening, hunting, fishing, and visiting with his wonderful friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Henry is survived by his wife Robin Orth of Austin; his daughters: Kathryn (Dale) Bublitz of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Patricia (David) Nelson of Marble, Colorado, Barbara Orth of Austin; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; and sisters-in-law: Shirley Orth of Byron, Minnesota, and Crystal Waugh of Tomah, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Gladys Orth; a son in infancy; and two brothers: Earl and David.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Robert Bailey officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, with military rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1216 and American Legion Post 91. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
