The Hayfield girls basketball team beat Byron (12-12 overall, 10-6 HVL) 54-43 in Byron Friday.

Jo Bungum hit six three-pointers and she scored 24 points for the Vikings (18-7 overall, 12-4 HVL), who hit 10 threes as a team.

“It was a nice win,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said. “They’ve got a solid team that poses a lot of problems inside, but our outside game was really clicking tonight. Any time we can knock down that many threes, we’re going to be a tough team to contend with.”

Hayfield will open the Section 1AA West tournament Thursday.
