Gerald E. Schiltz, 83, longtime resident of Owatonna, died Feb. 10, 2015, at Owatonna Care Center.

Gerald was born Oct. 29, 1931, in Waltham Township rural Mower County, the son of Carl P. and Elizabeth (Schroer) Schiltz. He attended country school rural Mower County. He was united in marriage to Lois Schroer April 26, 1962, In San Antonio, Texas. The couple moved to Owatonna and Gerald went to Owatonna manufacturing for 19 years. Later he went to work at Mercury Minnesota until he retired in 1994. In retirement he enjoyed traveling, camping and spending winters touring the southwestern United States in his RV.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 52 years Lois; children: Daniel Schiltz of Owatonna, John (Barb) Schiltz of Blooming Prairie, Shelley (Ron) Vogel, of Brownsdale, Minnesota; his grandchildren: Stephanie and Carter Vogel and Maya Schiltz. The brothers that survive him are: Alvin (Trudy) Schiltz of Georgia, Sylvester (Beth) Schiltz of New York, Donald (Donna) of Owatonna.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; and his brother Marvin.

Mass of Christian Burial is set at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna with John Sauer presiding. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
