The Austin gymnastics team finished in third place at the 16-team Faribault Invite Saturday.

The Packers totaled a team score of 137.3, while Northfield was second with a 140.27 and Rosemount was first with a 142.15.

“It was a tough field, but I think from our standards, we didn’t come to compete,” Austin head coach Alex Bade said. “We just didn’t do a good enough job. I think it was a winnable meet and I thought we had the most talented team there, but it all comes down to how you perform and it wasn’t good enough.”

Maddie Mullenbach finished 10th in the all-around for Austin and Abby Bickler was 11th.

“We are improving and we’re getting better and better every day,” Bade said. “It’s just a matter of time before these girls put out a big score.”
