Kinley Mervin Peterson, 93, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 21, 2015, at Prairie Manor Care Center.

He was born Sept. 27, 1921, in Austin, Minnesota, to Osen and Ida (Thompson) Peterson. Kinley lived his entire life on his grandparent’s homestead in Udolpho Township, Mower County, Minnesota. He attended rural school and Blooming Prairie High School. He was a lifelong farmer with his brother and nephew Dean. On Nov. 30, 1968, he married Joyce Lindstrom at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Owatonna. He was a lifetime member of Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, and was a former trustee and past president. Kinley was a director of the Farmer’s Co-op Elevator Association. He was an avid sportsman, hunting fox, deer, pheasant, and elk in the Canadian Rockies. Kinley was handy and capable, and took pride in being able to fix or build most anything.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Peterson of Blooming Prairie; his son Ronald and wife Sally Williams and children Lucy, Lydia, Charlie and Lola of Valley Springs, South Dakota; his daughter Karin (Jeremy) Braun and children Clara, Jonas, and Matthew of Byron, Minnesota; his brother Harland Peterson of Blooming Prairie; also by nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Osen and Ida Peterson; a sister and brother-in-law Ione and Everett Carlsen, and sister-in-law Laura Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, rural Austin, with Pastor Lindsay Stolen officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery.
