The United Way of Mower County’s annual campaign has raised more than $1.04 million or 95 percent of the community goal of $1.1 million.
“We are so excited to have surpassed last year’s campaign and look forward to making our goal of $1.1 million,” Executive Director Diane Baker said in a press release.
The 2014-15 campaign has already surpassed last year’s by more than $7,600.
“Every donation, large or small, makes a difference in our community,” Baker said in the release. “We won’t stop working towards our goal. We are so very close.”
The United Way kicked off its campaign Sept. 27, 2014 and the campaign publicly ran through Dec. 15, 2014, although many campaigns will wrap up in January and February. Donations can be collected through March.
The campaign had some big donations this year: Quality Pork Processors raised $143,362, Hormel Foods Corp.’s corporate office pledged $275,915 and Hormel employees pledged a record $150,895.
