Charles E. Ferguson, 77, of Austin, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Grand Meadow Health Care Center.
He was born Aug. 27, 1937, in Austin, Minnesota, to Walter and June (Bly) Ferguson. A lifelong resident of Austin, Charles attended Austin Public Schools and then joined the United States Army. On Nov. 16, 1962, he was united in marriage to Shirley Wentworth in Brownsdale, Minnesota. The couple raised two children. He was a former member of the Mower County Mounted Posse and belonged to Faith Evangelical Free Church in Austin. Charles especially enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends.
Survivors include his children: Debora (Mark) Silvis of Fridley, Minnesota, Raymond Ferguson of Austin; two grandchildren: Paul and John; siblings: Alvin (Kathy) Ferguson of Elmo, Minnesota, Phyllis Kaiser of Salt Lake City, Utah, Marion Wilke of Austin, Ronald (Winnie) Ferguson, also of Austin; many nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and June Ferguson; his wife Shirley Ferguson in 2010; and his brother Lawrence Ferguson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Mark Silvis officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials can be directed to the Ferguson family.
