Bernice (Bernie) Ann Malaczewski

Bernice (Bernie) Ann Malaczewski, of West Allis, Wisconsin, passed away Jan. 15, 2015, in West Allis, Wisconsin, of natural causes.
Bernice was born Feb. 28, 1918, to Matthew and Mary (Heimer) Schaefer. She married Alfred Malaczewski. She graduated high school in Adams, Minnesota, from Sacred Heart Catholic School. After high school, she worked at the Purity Inn in downtown Austin for a short time, then moved to Milwaukee and worked at Allis Chalmers until she and her husband opened Burnham Street Market. She enjoyed fishing, especially at her brother Richard’s place in Baudette, Minnesota. She also enjoyed playing cards. Bernice loved to dance more than anything, which is how she met her husband. They rarely missed a weekend dancing.
Bernice is survived by Richard and Lois Schaefer, Baudette, Minnesota, Lucille Hanson, Austin, Minnesota, Duane and Jan Schaefer, Rose Creek, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Al; parents; brothers: Donovan, Orin, David, and Tommy Schaefer; sisters: Florence Lee, and Adeline Hanson.
The Schaff Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial service was held Jan. 17, 2015, in West Allis, Wisconsin.
