Steven A. Gilbert, 62, died at his apartment in Austin, Minnesota, on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014. Steve was a long time resident of the Grand Meadow and Austin areas.

Steven was born on March 7, 1952, in Austin, Minnesota, to Arthur and Alice Gilbert. He attended Grace Baptist Church where he enjoyed the evening service. He liked helping others and tinkering on lawn mowers.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Alice Gilbert; brothers: Gary and James; sisters: Sheila and Elizabeth.

Grateful for having shared his life are his fiancé Cindy Mensing; brothers: Warren (Edith) Gilbert, Fulton, Missouri, Maynard Gilbert, Quitmen, Texas, Randy (Terri) Gilbert, Sioux Falls South Dakota; sister-in-law Mary Lou Crilly, Ostrander, Minnesota; special nephew Troy (Peggy) Gilbert; niece Colleen Gilbert; step-mother Frances Gilbert, Ostrander, Minnesota; aunt and uncle Berniece and Mervin Nelson, Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel in Austin with Pastor Brett Williams officiating. Visitation will be at the mortuary for one hour before the service.
