Packer gymnasts open season with strong showing

The Austin gymnastics team opened its season with a first place with a score of 139.8 at its 6-team home invite in the YMCA Saturday.

Rochester Century took second with a 134.

Abby Bickler won the beam for the Packers, Carolyn Hackel was third on the floor and third in all-around, Maddie Mullnebach was third on the bars and Jennifer Boyle was fourth in all-around.

“I am fairly pleased with how it went. I just think there’s a lot of little things to work on,” Austin head coach Alex Bade said. “I’m pretty happy that there’s no major issues, but at the same time we’ve got to start focusing on the little things.”
