Jonas Frank Haney, 91, of Austin, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Austin.

He was born Jan. 7, 1923, in rural Mower County, Minnesota, to Robert and Nellie (DeRemer) Haney. Jonas grew up in Austin and attended country school near Austin. On May 30, 1942, Jonas and Loretta Southworth were united in marriage at the Methodist parsonage in Austin. He worked at Hormel Foods beginning in 1951, retiring in 1980. Jonas loved to dance, and would go dancing sometimes three times a week. He liked to travel, play cards and wintered in Texas for 13 years. He also was a member of the Eagles Club and Moose Lodge, where he was a lifetime member, and was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Loretta Haney of Austin; his three daughters, Sharon (Kenneth) Christenson of Austin, Judith Magnuson of Austin, and Renee (Marvin) Jensen of Mantorville, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews; cousins; other relatives; and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Nellie Haney; his son Chuck in 1972; four sisters, three brothers; and a great-grandson Weston.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at First United Methodist Church in Austin with Pastor Marilee Benson officiating. Visitation is one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
