Gary Gene Granle, 67, of Austin, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at his home in Austin.

Gary was born in Austin on Feb. 8, 1947, to Raymond and Genevieve (Miller) Granle. He attended Ellis Middle School and was well known, along with Conrad “Smoky” Peterson, for wearing canary-colored suits to school. After his schooling, Gary purchased Bertelson’s Garage and renamed it Granle’s Garage on the east side of Austin. Gary also owned a construction company. After he sold Granle’s Garage, Gary started Granle Custom Framing until he retired in 2001.

In 1971, Gary married Linda Thilgen on Dec. 5. They had three children together: Lisa, Darin and Scott. Linda died on Dec. 2, 2000. Gary married Toni Ahles on Aug. 24, 2002, in Austin.

Gary was a simple man. He enjoyed painting, carving and framing.

Gary is survived by his wife, Toni, of Austin; children: Lisa (Bradley) Tuttle of Austin, Darin and fiancé Jennifer of Austin, Scott (Amy) of Austin; step-children: Randy (Kerri) Underdahl of Michigan, and Nicole Boysen of Rochester; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Mary Lou Olson of Austin; step-father, Sylvester Schaefer of Austin.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Linda; and sister Barb Day.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mayer Funeral Home. No services will be held. The burial will be private. Online condolences- www.mayerfh.com.
