The Austin boys hockey team went shot for shot with Rochester Century, but it couldn’t keep up on the scoreboard as it lost 7-3 in Riverside Arena Tuesday.

Austin had 27 shots compared to Century’s 29 shots on goal.

The Panthers (4-2 overall, 3-1 Big Nine) jumped out to a 4-1 lead early in the second period.

“We played right with them, we just had some mistakes that they turned into goals,” Austin head coach Erik LaRock said. “They’re probably a top two team in the conference and they had a couple good players step up tonight.”

Kenny Ree scored on a Trevor Stevens assist to make it a 2-1 game in the first period, Alex Ciola scored his first varsity goal to make it 4-2 in the second and Isaac Arnold scored on an assist from Jace Greenman to make it 6-3 in the third.

The Packers (0-6 overall, 0-3 Big Nine) were 0-for-5 on power plays.
