The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reporting many major roadways covered in snow in southeast Minnesota. At least seven accidents have been reported on Interstate 90 near Owatonna and Medford as of 12:45 p.m.
Several roads were already covered with a light dusting of snow Wednesday morning.
The weather service warned of reduced visibilities at times, along with drifting snow. Winds will be southeast at 6-10 mph tonight and will increase to 10-13 mph tonight.
Though the snow will subside, Thanksgiving Day may prove to be a good day to stay in, eat and watch football, thanks to cold temperatures. After a high of 26 degrees Wednesday, temperatures will drop to 1 with wind chill values near 11 below overnight. Thursday’s high will be around 10 with wind chills dropping as low as 14 below.
The cold stretch should be brief, as Friday’s high is 29 and Saturday’s high is 37.
