The Austin girls swimming and diving team had one top-eight finisher at the Section 1A preliminary meet in Rochester Wednesday.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Abby Gogolewski, Katelyn Hillson, Mikayla Finney and Maddie Kinney took fifth place for the Packers and they will swim in Friday’s finals in Rochester.

Also advancing to the finals are Maddie Kinney in the 200-yard individiual medley and 100-yard backstroke, Emma Kleis in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, Samantha Sheldon in diving, Katelyn Hillson in the 100-yard butterfly, the 200-yard medley relay team of Emma Kleis, Mikayla Finney in the 100-yard freestyle, Sarah Hillson, Katelyn Hillson, Jordyn Aakre and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Abby Goglewski, Katelyn Hillson, Hannah Burkhart and Mikayla Finney.
