Mary A. Purkapile, 58, of LeRoy, Minnesota, passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, peacefully at her home after a long battle with health complications.

Mary Ann Arp was born Dec. 14, 1955, at the Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa, to Barney and Minnie (Dietzel) Arp. She was a 1973 graduate of Manly High School in Manly, Iowa. On Oct. 5, 1974, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Ronald Lee Purkapile at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly, Iowa. Shortly after their marriage, Ron and Mary Ann opened and ran Perkies TruValue/Floral Shop in LeRoy, Minnesota. Throughout the years, Mary Ann had several arts and crafts related businesses. Mary Ann enjoyed being creative, spending time at her water garden with her ducks, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ron of LeRoy, Minnesota; children: Michelle (Cody Moe) Campbell of Stewartville, Minnesota, Jessica (Craig) Adams of Stacyville, Iowa, Clinton (Jennifer) Purkapile of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Lucas (Holly) Purkapile of LeRoy, Minnesota; eight grandchildren: Alexis, Ethan, Josephine, Domanic, Mya, Benton, Kael, and Alayna; brother Gary (Sue) Arp of Albert Lea, Minnesota; and uncle, John Dietzel of Miama, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Minnie; brother, Butch Arp; and sister, Beverly McClung.

Funeral services for Mary Purkapile will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at St. Patricks Catholic Church in LeRoy, Minnesota, with Father Ruben Spinler officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Patricks Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, Minnesota, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
