Austin boys hockey team falls to Winona

The Austin boys hockey team lost 3-2 to Winona (1-1 overall, 1-0 Big Nine) in Riverside Arena Saturday.
The Packers (0-2 overall, 0-1 Big Nine) trailed 2-0 in the third period when Adam Maxfield and Blake Halsey each scored goals with in a five-minute stretch to tie the game at 2-2. The Packers had a power play late in the third, but they couldn’t score a goal and Winona scored the game-winning goal with 58 seconds left.
Austin out-shot Winona 30-22 in the game and the Packers had a 15-5 shot advantage in the third period.
“We need to learn to come to play the entire 51 minutes of the game,” Austin head coach Erik LaRock said. “The way we played in the third, shows that we can play. It was a great learning experience today for them. We are making little mistakes that are causing us to lose games.”
