The United Way of Mower County has begun its annual fundraising campaign.
The United Way announced its goal of $1.1 million for this year’s campaign on Tuesday. In 2013, the United Way surpassed a million dollars for the third straight year by raising about $1.03 million.
“I truly believe that one of the most effective and powerful ways to change our community is through a donation to the United Way,” Executive Director Diane Baker said in a press release. “When children succeed in school, when families are financially stable, and when people have good health and live in safe neighborhoods, we all win.”
The United Way works with the community to fund programs in education, income, health and basic needs.
