RED LAKE — A Minnesota woman has been sentenced to 6 ½ years in federal prison for fatally stabbing a man on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.

A federal judge announced the sentence Wednesday for 26-year-old Alison Brown, a member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians. She pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the July 2013 death of Byron Lussier Sr., who was also a member of the Red Lake Band.
