Austin’s Historic Paramount Theatre is getting ready for Halloween with both scary and family-friendly movies.
At 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the Paramount will host “Casper,” a family-friendly, Halloween movie. Released in 1995, “Casper” is about a friendly ghost who lives in an old mansion with his three not-so-friendly uncles, who are also ghosts. After meeting Kat, the daughter of a paranormal therapist, the two become unlikely friends and have many adventures.
Tickets cost $1 for children 11-years-old and under, and $2 for children 12-years-old and older.
At 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, the Paramount will host “Night of the Living Dead,” a scary movie for Halloween night. Released in 1968, the movie follows a host of characters who try to escape from zombies by barricading themselves in a farm house. As the show progresses, there are fights for power, emotions flare and the audience will discover what will become of the unlikely zombie-refugees.
Tickets cost $5. There will also be a Bloody Mary bar available for “Night of the Living Dead.”
