Packer volleyball team knocked off by Rochester John Marshall

The Austin volleyball team finished its season with a three-game loss at No. 5 seeded Rochester John Marshall (15-11 overall) in its Section 1AAA tournament opener Wednesday.
The No. 12 seeded Packers (3-25 overall) fell short by scores of 25-7, 25-14, 25-16.
“The kids fought until the very end,” Austin head coach Cindy Owen said. “They never gave up and they kept battling and battling. I’m very proud of that.”
Austin senior Alex Hansen had five kills and Trista Akkerman had three kills.
“We’ll work hard in the offseason and hopefully turn things around next year,” Owen said. “Hats off to the seniors, they showed a lot of leadership and they will be missed.”
