Austin grad Blaine Kunze was recently inducted into the Macalester College Hall of Fame.

Kunze, who graduated from Macalester in 1987, played football, baseball and competed in track and field at Macalester.

Kunze was a three-time All-Minnesota Inntercollegiate Athletic Conference selection and was named the league’s defensive player of the year in football his junior year. He started 41 consecutive games and his 16 career interceptions has stood as a school record for 27 years.

In baseball, Kunze was a three-year starter and he switched to track and field his senior year, where he was a finalist in the indoor 300-meter dash and outdoor 100-meter dash at the MIAC Championships.

Kunze is currently in his fourth season as Macalster’s defensive backs coach.
