Football: Rebels win defensive battle over Hayfield

The Southland football team prevailed with its defense as it held on to beat Hayfield 16-6 in Adams in Friday.

The Rebels (3-3 overall, 3-3 SFA Blue) mustered just 112 yards of offense, but they came up with all of the scoring they needed in the first quarter when Lucas Mandt had a two-yard TD run and the Rebels blocked a punt for a safety.
The Vikings (1-5 overall, 1-5 SFA Blue) were missing quarterback Cam Rutledge for the second straight game and they had 181 yards of offense. The Rebels picked off one pass and they had four sacks.
