Ellsworth A. Ulland, 86

Ellsworth A. Ulland, 86, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at Our House Senior Living, Austin.

He was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Austin, Minnesota, to Alvin and Evelyn (Swenson) Ulland. Ellsworth grew up in Austin, graduating from high school in 1946. He then attended Austin Junior College, graduating in 1948. On June 19, 1949, Ellsworth was united in marriage to Eileen Jolson at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church. The couple raised seven children. He made his living as a farmer, and also worked at Owatonna Tool, retiring in 1993. In 1996, after living on the farm for 37 years, Ellsworth and Eileen moved to Austin. Eileen passed away in June 2004. Ellsworth moved to Heather Haus in 2011.

Survivors include his children: Dean (Harriet) Ulland, Diane (Henry) Mueller, Larry Ulland, Gary (Marilyn) Ulland, all of Austin, Marcia (Robert) Thurnau of Owatonna, Kathleen (Gregg) Klinkner of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, and Mary (Brian) Janning of Omaha, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Donald (Marlys) Ulland, Carol Cummings, Elaine Sievers; sisters-in-law: LaVonne Smith and Evelyn Johnson; brother-in-law Nathan Goodwin; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Evelyn Ulland; his wife Eileen Ulland; a granddaughter Amy Mueller-Wilde; his brother and sister-in-law LaVerne (Irene) Ulland; sister Cleone Goodwin; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Gerald Sievers, John Cummings, Muriel Westerman, Ernest Johnson, and John Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with Pastor Paul Lutter officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Worlein Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
