A 49-year-old Austin man was airlifted to Mayo Clinic Hospital — St. Marys Campus on Sunday after he fell 10 feet out of a deer stand north of Austin.
Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said the man injured his back and shoulder after a branch broke on the tree he sat in, which caused him to tumble to the ground a little after 4 p.m. Sunday. Emergency personnel were slightly delayed by the terrain on land north of the 25400 block of 555th Avenue. The Mayo One helicopter was automatically called because the man fell more than 7 feet, according to Amazi.
The man’s condition is unknown. Amazi said the victim was bow hunting with his son.
