Roger Jacobson, 79

Roger Jacobson, 79, of LeRoy, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, after putting up a long fight with cancer at the Ostrander Care and Rehab in Ostrander, Minnesota, where he received wonderful care.

Roger Arlen Jacobson was born on Nov. 25, 1934, in Austin, Minnesota, to Alvin and Rhoda (Aos) Jacobson. He was baptized at Ostrander Lutheran Church where he went to Sunday School and was confirmed. Roger attended country school for eight years and graduated from LeRoy High School in 1953. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Hensel on Sept. 23, 1956, at the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church. To this union, Roger and Phyllis were blessed with one son, Jared, and grandchildren, Harley and Jacy. They were the love of his life.

Roger was a member of LeRoy Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was employed for 39 years at LeRoy Farmers Coop, and after he retired, he worked at the Ag Center in the spring and fall for three years. Roger was always ready to help someone. There was never a more honest and hardworking guy. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and go to all the sporting events at school. He knew and loved all the kids at the school that played. He was a fireman for 20 years and on the ambulance crew for five years.

Roger left behind his wife, Phyllis, of LeRoy; son, Jared (Cyndi) Jacobson, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota; grandchildren, Harley and Jacy Jacobson; and siblings, Loren (Mavis) Jacobson of Dundas, Minnesota; and Sharlene (Doug) Beisell of Wabasha, Minnesota.

Private family services will be held at a later date in the Red Oak Grove Cemetery.
