Unlikely to be heavy enough to damage crops
It’s going to get a bit nippy this weekend.
The National Weather Service is calling for patchy frost Friday night into Saturday morning as temperatures drop to the mid-30s for the first time in months.
“We are probably going to see some patchy frost in that area on that morning,” NWS meteorologist Dan Jones said. “There’s a potential we could see some lower line areas with some frost in that area.”
Temperatures are expected to drop to as low as 36 degrees over Friday night into Saturday, with frost clearing up by 8 a.m. The frost likely won’t affect many farmers, however.
“It’s going to take the top leaves off, but it isn’t going to kill the whole plant,” said Nathan Augustine, agronomy manager for Northern Country Coop in Adams.
Meteorologists say temperatures will rise to about 60 degrees Saturday and continue to remain between the mid-40s and mid-60s throughout the weekend into next week.
Parts of northern Minnesota have already seen snow, and parts of South Dakota were blanketed in an inch of snow yesterday.
