Eastbound travelers on Interstate 90 will need to be careful once they travel past Stewartville starting next week.
Traffic for eastbound motorists on I-90 will be reduced to a single lane from Stewartville to Eyota beginning Monday, Aug. 4, as a 14-mile concrete repair project begins, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists will encounter single-lane traffic eastbound, so that the work can be safely completed. A width limit of 11 feet is in effect for vehicles traveling on this portion of I-90 southeast of Rochester.
The $1.9 million project is expected to be complete by Oct. 31. Interstate Improvement, Inc. of Faribault, Minnesota, is the prime contractor on the project.
With this project, MnDOT is working to preserve an efficient and effective transportation system by extending the life of the roadway with repairs and improvements to the surface and shoulder.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
