A local residential program that provides specialized support services to individuals with disabilities has been recognized with an Outstanding Achievement in Diversity Work award.

The Minnesota State Operated Community Services (MSOCS) – Park View home in Austin was recently selected for its efforts in creating a culturally appropriate environment for program clients.

“MSOCS works hard to be person-centered and offer choices to the people we support,” said Debra Dimler-Warnke, Park View’s community residential supervisor. “Acknowledging and embracing people of all cultures is all about being person-centered.”

Each year, the Outstanding Achievement in Diversity Work award is given out by the Department of Human Services to department programs that demonstrate substantial contributions toward improving the cultural competency of its services.
