Blossoms dominate Loyola in opener

The Blooming Prairie football team opened its season in solid fashion as they topped Mankato Loyola (1-1 overall, 1-1 Gopher) 48-13 in BP Friday.
John Rumpza threw for five TDs and ran for another score to lead the Awesome Blossoms (1-0 overall, 1-0 Gopher).
The Blossoms had a balanced attack as they threw for 217 yards and ran for 207. On defense, BP had three interceptions and it held Loyola to 248 yards of offense.
“It was a good first game and it was nice to see us hitting on all cylinders offensively,” BP head coach Chad Gimbel said.
The game was called with 7:08 left in the fourth quarter due to lightning.
