Mangor Krogstad, 69

Mangor Krogstad, 69, of Mapleview, Minn., died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at his home.

He was born May 30, 1945, in Arendahl, Norway, to Lars and Martha Krogstad. Mangor immigrated to the United States with his family when he was 3-years-old and grew up in Rochester, Minn. After his graduation from John Marshall High School, he became a union painter and worked with many Rochester contractors. Mangor married Joyce Thygesen on Sept. 12, 1969. The couple later divorced.

His favorite pastimes were working on and restoring vehicles. He was a fix-it man. Mangor especially loved spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren and his dogs.

Survivors include his sons Erik (Shawn) Krogstad of Rochester, and Andy (Melissa) Krogstad of Byron; five grandchildren, Brandon, Sydney, Devin, Connor, and Kelsey; a brother Sidney Krogstad of Petaluma, Calif.; two nephews; and many other relatives and friends locally and in Norway.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lars and Martha Krogstad; his brother Leif; his sister-in-law Beverly Krogstad; and one niece.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Macken Funeral Home Chapel in Rochester, Minn. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Macken Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorials in Mangor’s memory can be directed to recipient of donor’s choice or to the Krogstad family.
