The Austin City Council will discuss funding requests and more at its upcoming council meeting starting at 5:30 p.m. Monday inside City Council Chambers.
The council will hear a proposal from Vision 2020 and the Austin Area Commission for the Arts to give $10,000 toward the new Austin ArtWorks Center, scheduled to open next month during this year’s Austin ArtWorks Festival. The council preliminarily planned to give $55,000 to Vision 2020-related projects in 2015, which includes $10,000 for the center.
In addition, council members will likely finalize a contract to officially move the Spam Museum downtown, as well as a proposal to spend $4,145 to help Hardy Geranium with concrete work.
Hardy Geranium owner Vicki Trimble approached the council at its July 7 meeting to ask for help as she suspects water may have been diverted into her basement as a result of city flood mitigation efforts in 2008.
