The Austin Post 91 baseball team won three of its four games and it took third place at the Mulvihill tournament in Mankato this past weekend.
Austin beat Mankato National 7-5, it topped Mankato American 10-5 and it beat Redwood Falls 9-0. Austin lost to River Falls, Wis. 7-0.
Austin was tied 5-5 against National when Zach Huntley knocked in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and Steven Clennon hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-5.
Ethan Horstmann had six hits in Austin’s three wins to lead Post 91 (5-4 overall).
“The boys played extremely well all weekend with the exception of coming out flat against River Falls,” Austin co-head coach Joe Kroc said. “Hopefully we can learn from that and make sure it doesn’t happen again. I’m extremely proud of how we battled back for the win in the last game after giving up the lead.”
