One Grand Meadow man is in the hospital and another was taken to Mower County Jail after a crash near Grand Meadow Monday.
Chief Deputy Mark May said Mower County Sheriff’s deputies were called to 255th Street and 760th Avenue at about 1:20 p.m. Monday after Gerald Steinkamp, 57, hit Terry Doocy, 58, in the uncontrolled intersection.
According to May, Steinkamp was traveling west on 255th Street and didn’t see Doocy, who was southbound. Steinkamp hit Doocy’s vehicle at the driver’s side door.
Doocy was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital — St. Marys Campus in Rochester for severe head injuries, while Steinkamp was arrested for DWI.
May said no charges have yet been filed and Steinkamp was released from jail the same day.
