Region could see severe weather later today

Local residents may want to keep an eye to the sky today.

The National Weather Service out of La Crosse, Wis., is warning about the possibility for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening in southeast Minnesota and northern Iowa.

The greatest threat for severe weather is from 4 to 8 p.m. today, according the weather service. High winds and large hail are the primary threats, and there could be isolated tornadoes late this afternoon.

Thursday’s high will be around 75, with a low near 50.

Additional thunderstorms are possible from Saturday through Monday night, but it’s too early tell if any of those storms will be severe.
