The Packer baseball team never really got going as it lost 12-1 in five innings to Owatonna in Dick Seltz Field Tuesday.

The Huskies (11-3 overall) took control early as they led 7-1 after three innings and they put the game away with five runs in the top of the fifth. Austin’s pitchers walked a total of 10 Huskies in the loss.

“When you face teams like this that are strong, you can’t walk guys. You’re doing them a favor by putting guys on base,” Austin head coach Chris Gogolewski said.

The Packers (2-11 overall, 2-11 Big Nine) scored one run in the third, but they left the bases loaded in that frame. Austin left runners on first and second in the fourth inning.

“That’s the challenge we’ve had all year long. When we get down by three or four runs, are we going to keep fighting or lay down? We’ve got to have that fight,” Goglewski said.
