Muriel D. Ondov

Muriel D. Ondov, 89, of Austin, died Friday May 30, 2014, with her entire family at her side at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester-Saint Marys Campus. She was one of five children.

Muriel D. Kvitrud was born Jan. 31, 1925, in St. Paul, Minn., to Robert and Carrie (Herdahl) Kvitrud. She attended South High School in Minneapolis. World War II began, and Muriel voluntarily joined the Nurses Cadet Corp in 1943 and served for a brief time. She also worked in a war defense plant assembling carburetors, resigning in the fall of 1947. Muriel attended Abbott Northwestern Nursing School in Minneapolis and received her nursing degree in 1947. On Sept. 15, 1951, Muriel married Raymond B. Ondov. God blessed them with three wonderful children, Charles, Rebecca, and Julie.

Following Ray’s graduation from the University of Minnesota Law School in June 1954, the couple moved to Austin, Minn., where they continued to live. Muriel worked as an Austin Public Schools nurse for several years until their first child was born. A strong supporter of her hometown of Austin and her church, Muriel deeply loved her God, her husband and children, and each of their families.
