House OKs phone ‘kill switch’

ST. PAUL — The Minnesota House has passed a bill requiring smartphones and cell-connected tablet computers sold in Minnesota to feature an anti-theft “kill switch.”

The House backed the bill Thursday by a vote of 73-58. It would apply to all new smartphones and cell-connected tablet computers sold in the state after July 1, 2015.
