Austin residents are about to walk to help the thousands of people affected by multiple sclerosis.

The 2014 Walk MS event is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at East Side Lake Park at the Eighth Avenue and Oakland Place Northeast.

Participants can choose a one- or three-mile route and participate individually or as a team. Walkers are encouraged to fundraise, though no donation is required.
