Local unemployment drops to 4.7 percent

Mower County’s labor force has grown by about 200 people since the start of the year.

The county’s unemployment fell to 4.7 percent in March, its lowest level of 2014, according to data released by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) last week.

DEED numbers showed the labor force grew to 21,357 in March, compared to 21,161 in February and 21,155 in January, acceding to DEED.

Mower’s unemployment dropped to 3.6 percent in November, it’s lowest point since November of 2011 when it was it was also 3.6 percent. It then climbed to 4.9 percent in February.
