The Hayfield softball team opened its season with a 10-9 loss at Triton (1-0 overall, 1-0 HVL) Tuesday.

Rachel Masching was 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and five RBIs for the Vikings (0-1 overall, 0-1 HVL) and Dani Wagner had two solo homers.

“We were okay hitting,” Hayfield head coach Jana Wagner said. “We had four errors and too many walks.”

It was the first time playing outside for the Vikings.
