Our memberships are $30 per person. Children age 2 and under are free. You can sign up at our office or at the pool after it opens.

We are excited to announce that we will have a new attraction at the pool this year. You will have to check out the 16-foot climbing wall that will be located in the diving well pool. Thank you to the Hormel Foundation for the grant which made this project possible.

Swimming lessons will be offered Monday through Fridays beginning June 16. Sessions run for two weeks each and cost $30 per two-week session. Morning lessons have three time slots starting at 10 a.m. and evening lessons have two time slots starting at 5 p.m. Most classes run 40 minutes, however, younger children are 30 minutes. You can receive a $10 discount if you sign your child up for a swim lesson and purchase a membership at the same time.

Adults interested in men’s and coed softball and co-rec kickball league, don’t forget that the registration deadline is Monday, and Tuesday. You must turn in your entry fee, roster and players fees by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The adult softball leagues have a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, April 30, in the Park and Recreation office to seed teams. The coed meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s league is at 6 p.m. A representative from each team should be present. If you have any questions you may call our office or check the city website at www.ci.austin.mn.us and click the sports tab for the informational letters.

We are taking registration for summer activities. You may see our summer brochure on our website at www.ci.austin.mn.us. Click on “City Departments,” then “Park and Recreation.” You will find it by scrolling down to summer brochure 2014.

We will continue our partnership again this year with the Austin Public Library and Community Education to offer our Water, Nature and Adventure and/or the Shake, Rattle and Read three-week camps.

Last year, these two camps were very well received and we hope it continues as we offer a variety of different activities for this two-hour time slot. This program is geared to children ages 6 to 10 and is held in the gazebo at Horace Austin Park.

A school sack lunch will be provided. There will be library visits and visits to the municipal pool. The cost is $15 per three week session, pick one or sign up for both.

Check out the Nature Center for their summer activities as well at www.hormelnaturecenter.org or by calling their office at 507-437-7519.
