An elderly Austin woman was seriously injured and hospitalized Monday after reportedly being pushed down a flight of stairs by a woman seeking prescription medication.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said a 43-year-old woman allegedly entered a southeast Austin residence around 3:30 p.m. seeking prescription medication, pushed the victim down a flight of stairs and ransacked the residence, looking for medication before fleeing the scene.
Emergency officials responded after the victim pushed a medical alert button, according Krueger.
Officers and a K-9 unit tracked the suspect to the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center parking lot, where she was arrested.
Krueger said the 43-year-old could be facing charges for felony robbery, felony assault and possession of a controlled substance.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending with the Mower County Attorney’s Office.
Krueger said the house was not chosen at random.
The Herald does not run suspects’ names until they’re officially charged in court.
