2014 All-Herald Girls Basketball Team

FIRST TEAM
Ann Rysavy , Guard, Lyle-Pacelli
The senior finished her career as the all-time leading scorer at LP with 1,641 career points. This past season Rysavy was voted SEC player of the year as she averaged 14 points, 6 steals, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game for the Athletics (24-1 overall).
Dani Wagner, Guard, Hayfield
The senior did a lot on both ends of the court for Hayfield (21-6 overall) as she averaged 18.3 points, 8 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 4.3 steals per game.
McKenzie Kirt, Forward, Southland
The junior was a major play-maker with the ball in her hands for the Rebels (16-11 overall). Kirtz averaged 20.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.8 steals and 3.8 assists per game, and she shot 45 percent from the field.
Mer Gach, Forward, Austin
The junior had a breakout season for the Packers (8-16 overall) as she averaged 15.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2 steals per game. Gach, who made the All Big Nine team, set a school record with 21 rebounds in one game.
Taylor Hagen, Center, Blooming Prairie
The University of Northern Iowa commit averaged 15.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 2 steals per game for the Awesome Blossoms (19-8 overall). Hagen, a junior, shot 45 percent from the field and she is BP’s all-time leading scorer.
SECOND TEAM
Madison Worke, Guard, Blooming Prairie
The junior averaged 12.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 blocks per game for BP. Worke shot 47 percent percent from the field, 76 percent on free throws and 32 percent (35-for-110) on 3-pointers.
Jessie Foster, Guard, Hayfield
The senior specialized in defense, but she also gave the Vikings some offense as she averaged 10.2 points, 3 steals and 3.9 assists for Hayfield.
Jo Bungum, Guard, Hayfield
The sharpshooting junior averaged 11.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 steals for Hayfield.
Sarah Holtz,Forward, Lyle-Pacelli
The athletic sophomore averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds and five steals for LP, while shooting 65 percent from the field.
Shayley Vesel, Forward, Austin
The All Big Nine honorable mention sophomore averaged 11.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3 steals per game for Austin.
Honorable Mention
Rio Landers, Center, Grand Meadow
The sophomore averaged 15.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.2 steals per game for the Superlarks (11-15 overall). Landers shot 45 percent from the field.
Becca Bunne, Forward, LeRoy-Ostrander
The senior averaged 14.5 points, 11.2 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 5.2 steals per game for the Cardinals (12-12 overall). Bunne finished her LO career with 1,167 career points and 1,007 rebounds.
Courtney Walter, Guard, Lyle-Pacelli
The sophomore averaged 13 points, 4 assists and 4 steals for LP, while shooting 34 percent on 3-pointers.
Brooke Walter, Guard, Lyle-Pacelli
The eighth-grader made a big step this season as she averaged 10 points, 4 steals and 3 assists per game.
Sara Noble, Guard, Blooming Prairie
The senior averaged 10.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game for BP. Noble shot 35 percent (46-for-132) on 3-pointers.
Rachel Oehlke, Guard, Grand Meadow
The junior averaged 11.7 points, 4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.7 steals per game for GM.
Sydney Bendtsen, Forward, Southland
The sophomore made some strides this year as she averaged 10.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 2 assists per game.
