Mildred Marie Lunde, 93, of Austin, Minn., died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.
Mildred was born on July 20, 1920, in Brookings, S.D., to Bernard and Lena (Torgerson) Cole.
Mildred married Orion Lunde on Nov. 17, 1945, at the Moscow Lutheran Church. During World War II, Mildred worked at Hormel Foods. After Orion returned from the war they farmed near Moscow for several years before moving to Albert Lea where Mildred worked at Wilson Foods for more than 35 years. In her retirement, Mildred worked as a home health aid for a long time. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, watching birds, and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Mildred was known for her excellent homemade donuts.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orion, granddaughter Lori Ann, sister Arlene Draayer, sister Stella Day and brother Meredith Cole.
Mildred is survived by her daughters: Donna Mae Gullickson, of Austin; Stephanie (Rick) Smith, of Austin; grandchildren: Aaron (Sarah) Smith, of Austin; Ron Gullickson, of Missouri; Rick (Connie) Gullickson, of Missouri; Byran Gullickson, of Austin; Sofia, of Austin; great-grandchildren: Arianna, Kiara, Brianna, Christian, Joey, Kalani, Amanda, and Jason; great-great-grandchildren: Camden, Kyra, Katryna, and Mckenze; sisters: Lanora Ravenhorst, of Hollandale, Minn.; Ina Mae Parr, of Austin; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Moscow Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew Williams officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
