Marjorie Anderson, 85

Marjorie Anderson, 85, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., formerly of Austin, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Marge will be dearly missed by her family and friends, who will remember her for her spirit, generosity, and love of family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle Dalton and Rosella Ila (Bothun) Knowlton; son, Craig Dean; E. Dean Anderson; and sisters, Mary Jane and Susan Knowlton. Marjorie is survived by her daughters Candace Faye Fish and Cassandra Jean Holmstrom, son-in-law Martin Holmstrom, and grandchildren Steven Dean Holmstrom and Margot Faye Holmstrom; brothers Richard (Nancy) Knowlton, of Vail, Colo.; Robert (Joan) Knowlton, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Gary (Mary) Knowlton, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and sister Carol Warfield, of Hudson, Ohio; as well as many special nieces and nephews.

Marge was born on July 22, 1928, in Preston, Minn. She graduated from Austin High School in 1947, and was honored by her classmates as homecoming queen in her senior year. She was employed at the Hormel Office where she met Dean, whom she later married and together raised three children. For many years, she was active in the Republican Party and served as office manager in Albert Lea for Congressman Tom Hagedorn. She worked at Wallace’s and Younkers, where she made many wonderful friends. In 2001, she moved to Inver Grove Heights to be closer to her daughters and her grandchildren.

A memorial service at Crane Chapel in Austin will be held on Saturday, May 17. A notice about the service will be published closer to the date.
